I now have 4 job bids pending at the Emerald City.  I submitted another bid on an Admin. Asst. position today.

Weather:  Sunny, mild for this time of year.  We need rain!. Our rainfall is 15" below normal.

I think this was the first full week I worked since before Christmas.  Geeze, 5 days and 40 hours makes for a long workweek.  But it’s the weekend and our new appliances will be delivered tomorrow.  I can do laundry to my heart’s content in a quiet, energy efficient manner.   I’m going to be sure to be out of the house before the deliverymen arrive.  Dennis can handle it.  I don’t want to be here for the chaos of men, machines, barking dog and fighting cats.   Instead I’m going to visit Dad at the nursing home.  Both of my choices of activity are cutting edge excitement.

I stopped at the grocery store for JUST A FEW ITEMS.  I left there with the car packed and the checkbook $120 lighter.  I couldn’t help it.  They were having good sales, especially on meats.  The freezer in the basement is chock full now.  I think I did very well.  I bought mostly all good food and very little junk.  The Weight Watchers has me choosing my groceries carefully.  I was so surprised at the amount of meat items I was able to buy for that amount of money.  They were having specials like: Buy 1 pkg of ground turkey, get 2 free.  How could I pass that up?  The same went for ham steaks and chicken and Coca Cola.  Caffeine Free Diet Coke has become my close friend.

So, tonight Dennis and I had leftovers in an attempt to clean out the refrigerator so there would be room for the groceries.  Tomorrow I’m going to make a pot roast in the crock-pot and I hope to use one of the Weight Watcher’s recipes.  I can start it up mid morning and be out the door and not worry about it.   Sunday it’s turkey dinner again, by request.

Today MJ called out sick from work.  It was unusual in that she is seldom out.  #1Boss has been riding her hard lately and I think she is beginning to crack under the stress.  She has had to answer to him for errors that she made long ago.  She is very unorganized and after almost 3 years with us, she still doesn’t understand how to make a spreadsheet in Excel or how to put and attachment on an Outlook email.  It’s a pity that someone so young and with a college education can be so dense.  It wouldn’t surprise me if she came in on Monday and quit.  She quit her last job because she didn’t have any vacation time left and she wanted to go to Florida for the UCONN playoffs.  She has a strange set of priorities in her life.

It’s not my concern what she does although if she does quit, it would certainly liven up the department.  I might even get some work to do.

Today I am thankful for:

1:  The caller ID box on our phone.
2:  My teddy bear collection.  They make me smile.
3:  Honey Dew melons.
4:  Seed catalogs.  It's that time of year!
5:  Clay flower pots.
