I didn't
realize that I haven't been here since Wednesday. Where has the time
gone?
Ryan and I went to the Wadworth Atheneum on Thursday. It was exactly as I had remembered it from more than 30 years ago. I hadn't realized that it contained paintings by artists that even I recognize. It has a few Monets, Gaugans, a Picasso, and another famous painting that at the moment I have visualized but I can't recall the artist's name.
We only stayed about an hour, skipping most of the exhibit on modern art. The value of modern art is wasted on me. I just don't get it. My cats have thrown up more colorful and interesting designs than some of those paintings.
We went through the gift shop however everything was ridiculously overpriced. Ryan picked up a small sketch pad and it was over $8. I told him to put it back, and on our way home we stopped at Staples. I found a large sketch pad for slightly over $3. While at Staples, we stocked up on a some school supplies and extra pens.
Thursday was my last day of radiation and not a moment too soon. Most of my burn is healed, but I have a small area about the size of a nickel on the top of the breast that is still open. At least it's in a spot that doesn't get rubbed while moving my arm. It should heal soon. I'm shedding layers of skin although not at a rapid rate as before. The breast is still very tender. It's painful to carry anything or even to hug Ryan and Dennis.
I went back to the surgeon on Friday for a final check before I return to work. He said it appears to be healing normally and that I am fortunate in that the breast isn't hard as rock. He explained that many women have that occur after the surgery and radiation and in some cases the breast never returns to it's original texture. He told me that I'm fortunate as it's still supple. Hear that Dennis? I'm supple.
The weekend has been spent just lounging around the house. I've done a few chores, but mostly I'm mentally preparing for work tomorrow. The good news is that I contacted the temp agency and she is looking to place me by the end of August. By that time my hospital bills should be paid and I can get out of the Emerald City.
Well, I'm off to go iron something to wear tomorrow.
I also have to dig up a pair of panty hose. YUK!
