But I can tell that every day I'm feeling a wee bit better. I feel less pain (as long as I don't cough or sneeze!) and I have a bit more strength. I'm due to return to work after Thanksgiving. Speaking of work, did I mention that I have a new boss? Carol is GREAT! She worked in our division but in a different capacity upstairs. So we already knew her through department functions, meetings, training seminars and such. She is so efficient and organized it's a pleasure to behold. She makes decisions and sets up procedures. She is smart as a whip. Anyway, earlier this month I had bid on a different position in my department. In the two and a half years that I have worked in the department, it has more than tripled in size staff wise. The position I bid on is in the financial area. It requires a great deal of balancing and moving funds via wire transfers and such. I have 22 years of experience in the field of banking and banking law. I know how to do this job. However, I had bid on that position twice before and the previous supervisor felt I wasn't ready or incapable of it. And she made that determination after two interviews with her and a interview with the senior person in the unit and the department manager. Yes, that's correct. I had to have four interviews even though I already worked in the department. Last Wednesday, before I left for the day, Carol called me into the office. I was thinking it was to go over my files with her as it was my last day at work before the surgery. No. She offered me the job. JUST LIKE THAT! The previous week I had an interview with her and she asked me questions and such. I expected the process to be as it always had been, long and painful. I had no expectations of getting the job. But, I got it! When I return after my STD, it will be at the new job. My salary will be nearly back to what it was when I lost my job in 1996 at the bank. Financially, it will greatly improve our lives here. The bunnies are good. They all desperately need haircuts. I hadn't been feeling well prior to the surgery. I hope to get them all shaved over the next few weeks as I get my strength back. That's about it for now. I've been knitting simple scarves again and slowly knitting on Steve's sweater.
